Colossal Cave Adventure

Colossal Cave Adventures is an old game produced in the 70’s, also becoming the world’s first “interactive fiction”. The game itself is a maze, which can both be good and bad. The main issue with this type of game is the lack of having a map or visual representation (except certain key moments). The game relies heavily on reading texts like hints, interactions, and overall being able to memorize the layout of the cave. A blind playthrough would certainly result to at one point, being lost and confused. It’s a fun game that are missing certain key functions like having an in-game map and knowing other commands like being able to preserve your surroundings (again), because you are unable to scroll up to the list of commands and actions done throughout the adventure. The game does good in bringing certain events to spice things up and sometimes mislead your expectations (not in a bad way). The game overall is fun (as a masochist) and challenging given the time to complete but may not give as much satisfaction in terms of current standards and generations of video games.
